Rhinoplasty

Isolated plastic surgeries of the wings and the tip of the nose are performed quite rarely.It usually belongs to the complex of rhinoplasty work.But in some cases, upgraded wings are the missing touches that can instantly improve the overall look.

Parameters of beautiful nose wings

The wings of the nose are paired, symmetrically arranged cartilages that form the nostrils.

The main parameters of harmoniously designed nose wings can be called symmetry and proportionality.When talking about the aesthetics of the olfactory organ, people most often mean a flat back, a neat tip and a moderate protrusion (length) of the nose.The wings of the nose, since they occupy a small area, attract less attention.

The aesthetic design of the wings is very important!I can assume that a person not experienced in the field of facial aesthetics cannot always identify where the "ugliness" of the nose is.At first glance, it's not all bad, but some elements stand out from the well-tailored design.Unsightly wings are touches that can destroy the complete harmony envisioned by nature.

They must be symmetrical and proportional to the entire external part of the respiratory organ!

In which cases is surgery necessary?

Correction of the wings of the nose can be an isolated operation, i.e. only on paired cartilages, or part of a complex for the correction of the nose and septum - rhinoseptoplasty.

We highlight the 3 most common wing defects that can be corrected with surgery:

  1. The nostrils and wings are too wide.
  2. Asymmetric wings.Of course, we all have asymmetry.That's fine.But in some cases the dissonance cannot be hidden.Therefore, nose wings that are noticeably different in size or location (higher or lower) can be entrusted to a plastic surgeon.
  3. Fleshy, thick nostrils.The cause may be thickened skin or excess cartilage tissue.
  4. Aesthetic form.

The listed defects of the nose wings cannot be corrected with filler injections!

How complicated is this operation?

If we compare the correction of the wings with the plastic surgery of all parts of the external nose, of course the first case is easier for the surgeon to perform.

"Simplicity" does not at all mean that it can be done without great effort and sufficient experience.On the contrary, the reduction of the wings of the nose and the creation of a new configuration requires a careful approach and the planning of its activities by a specialist.

Again, the wings are a small area that requires pinpoint accuracy to work with.

What kind of anesthesia is used?

The topic of anesthesia during plastic surgery is of great concern to patients.I would divide the audience into two camps: those who are against general anesthesia and those who try to avoid it by all means, and those who try to survive the intervention in the obscurity of oblivion and gladly fall into a medicated sleep.

Listen!

  • if the operation is performed in combination with complex rhinoplasty, general anesthesia will be required;
  • If only cartilage is being corrected, we can use intravenous sedation with local anesthesia.

Preparation for surgery

The amount of preoperative preparation depends on the type of procedure.In the case of rhinoplasty performed under general anesthesia, we will need thorough research.

Tests to be performed

  • clinical blood test;
  • Biochemical blood test (total protein, urea, creatinine, bilirubin (total), ALT, AST, glucose, potassium, sodium);
  • Coagulogram (INR, prothrombin, bleeding time, coagulation time);
  • Blood test to detect RW (syphilis), HIV;
  • Hbc;
  • Antigen+anti HCV (hepatitis B, C);
  • Blood type, Rh factor;
  • general urinalysis;
  • ECG (electrocardiogram) with interpretation;
  • Computed tomography of the nose.

In the case of isolated nostril surgery, slightly fewer examinations are required.

On the day of surgery

The patient comes to the clinic on an empty stomach (in the case of complex rhinoplasty) or after a light morning (nose surgery under intravenous sedation).

To sign the contract, pay, etc.after the relevant usual organizational measures, an expert consultation follows.Mandatory anesthesiologist anamnesis collection and, of course, another meeting with the operating surgeon.

After the complex rhinoplasty surgery performed under general anesthesia, the patient is placed in the treatment room, where his condition is carefully monitored.

After the wings are sewn together, the patient goes home a few hours later.

How does rehabilitation take place?

Rhinoplasty and rehabilitation after nostril surgery are significantly different.

If only the wings were corrected, you are the lucky one who does not need complex structures on the face (such as splints).The doctor closes the correction area with special strips.This has practically no effect on your quality of life and well-being.

When you get home, you can return to your normal lifestyle with minimal changes.

Sutures after wing surgery

When reducing the nostrils, the seams are outside.After 6-7 days, the doctor removes the threads.For a while, traces of the intervention will be noticeable.But after a few months, you will forget about them, provided that they provide adequate care.

Rules for treating scars:

  • After the sutures are removed, if necessary, a bandage/plaster must be applied to the wound, which can be removed after a day, and then there is usually no need to cover the wound with a bandage or plaster.
  • On the day of suture removal, do not wet the wound to close the holes.
  • The healing wound will remain sensitive for a few more weeks - protect the wound area from external injuries and avoid rubbing with tight clothing.If desired, you can cover the wound with a bandage/plaster.

Rhinoplasty, price

The cost of rhinoplasty depends on the nature of the aesthetic defect to be corrected, the complexity and volume of the upcoming procedure.For your information, the estimated cost of different types of surgical interventions is presented in the table.You can find out the final cost of the service only after a personal consultation.
